How to find a pet adoption store in LA area?
OK. So, I am trying various websites to find a dog to adopt, but I can't find any. Such as in Oodle, there are like tons of cute dogs, but they don't email back. And it seems like they just wanna spam or get my info like cell to sell out for ads or sth. I really hate it. And not humane society because I want to adopt a baby ones I checked it out and there are only adult dogs . I mean I am serious with this, not like others who just want them when they are young and throw them away when they grow up. My family does currently have an adult chiwawa too. That's why I also want it to be nice looking .So, where can I GO to see visually and adopt one in LA?
What are other good pet adoption sites besides petfinder?
I've looked through all the dogs on petfinder in my area and none fit what i'm looking for. i don't want to buy a dog i'd like to adopt.I've been looking at the local shelter sites, but most direct me right back to petfinder.I've been looking at the local shelter sites, but most direct me right back to petfinder or has the same dogs as petfinder. apparently i havent been clear enough, but I DONT WANT TO BUY A DOG im trying to adopt a dog. i like corgis, labs, shepards. Dogs like that. the dog must be under 6 months old. i live in the las vegas area and dont wish to pay to have a dog shipped to me because then i wont be able to meet it first.if i give something a thumbs down it's because the site didn't have what i was looking for.

I have been looking all over the internet and cant seem to find one. I am having to re home my dog due to the fact that I am separating from my husband and neither of us can keep her so when I find a home for her I want to have a contract with the new owners. I recently turned 18 and I want to adopt a ferret at a petco near my home. I have never personaly adopted a pet and i want to know if there is any paperwork or proof of anything that i'd need to bring with me.I was just wondering because i was reading the " rules" for adopting a dog online for a local dog shelter and one of the things you needed was proof that you own your own home or a number for your landlord so the shelter can call and make sure that you would be allowed to have a dog there.i don't want to adopt a dog though, just a ferret. Is there anything i need to prove?oh and i don't mean adopt a dog online, i was just on the shelter's website haha. i hope i didn't confuse anyone...

A pet adoption question?
Ok, so I have this wonderful black miniature poodle. But things have arose and my family has decided that in our best interest and also hers, we need to find a new, loving home for our sweet little girl. But to the point, are their any websites were I can, myself, put her on the website to be adopted? Because I really do not want to have to take her to the HSPCA or anything of that sort. It is much too sad. I just need some good ideas on a possible solution. Oh and by the way, I live in Houston, Texas.

Last weekend, I adopted a dog from the local high kill animal shelter. I spent about 1.5 hours there getting to know her and talking to the staff at the shelter. While I was there, I couldn't do anything except try to think of ways I could help these poor animals. I signed up to volunteer at the shelter this weekend. I will be be there to come, bathe, and interact with the animals and to help clean the kennels. My best friend was with me and since we're both avid animal lovers we hope to open a rescue one day , we began brain storming ideas on how to promote pet adoption. She and I are also on our local roller derby team, we thought that it would be awesome for our team of 14 girls and the shelter work together to go out into the community and show the public what great animals have tragically been locked up. I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas of how we can do this. How to get the public involved and educated about pet adoption. Ideas??? Thanks
Why do pet adoption agencies require home inspections?
I have been doing some online research into non profit organizations to adopt my next pet cat from. Every single one requires an application, including references, vet references, some even ask for a commitment to not declaw the cat. I am fine with all that. BUT I'm finding that a lot of these organizations are requiring HOME INSPECTIONS? To adopt a cat ? Has anyone here gone through with that? I want to have another pet, but my goodness. I don't know those people I don't want strangers inspecting my home... especially if I'm forking out almost 100 bucks for the adoption. Is this normal? I have nothing to hide but I feel like this may be a scam?I'm pretty sure that I'm just going to go to the Humane society instead... but I kinda fell for a kitty with the private organization. ' Yea, $100 is a great price for a friend, but I was referring to the fact that most people who would be crappy parents wouldn't even make THAT financial commitment? I feel that it's pretty irresponsible and catty to refuse an adoption and forward to all shelters based on a home inspection referral especially since 99 % of these adoption agencies require personal references, Vet references, and in some cases contracts. You DO want these animals to find their forever home right? Great people sometimes don't like sharing their homes with other humans.
